Frankie Jones has committed his future to Buckland Athletic FC for the 2024/2025 season.

The 26-year-old midfielder is welcomed to “The Bucks” after moving to the area from London, where he began his footballing journey. Frankie is a serving Royal Marine and represents the Royal Marines FA.

The combative central-midfielder began his footballing journey in the Academy with Queens Park Rangers, then as an Apprentice with Cambridge United before enjoying spells at Hayes & Yeading, St. Neots Town and Chalfont St. Peter before moving to Plymouth to begin his service in the RM.

Head Coach Dan Hart said: “Frankie is a player I was recommended to talk to towards the beginning of 2024, by a close personal friend Jordan Berry, who is Head Coach at Egham Town and who played with Frankie earlier in his career. Frankie’s physical strengths are striking, he’s extremely fit and is able to dominate the midfield space with hard running and a good passing range.”

“He’s certainly somebody I’d have loved to have shared the midfield with, and during pre-season he’s showed that his technical pedigree matches his incredible aerobic capacity. We’re aware that throughout the season, there may be a spell where we miss him due to his service, but with every moment he is around, he will be fiercely competitive and boost the group on and off the pitch. I’m very happy to have Frankie with us.”

Everyone at the club is delighted to welcome Frankie to The VX3 Stadium, Homers Heath, you can catch him next in our friendly versus Torquay United, this coming Friday, 12th July. Tickets for this fixture can be purchased, here.
