Luke Forward, welcome to Homers Heath.
Luke Forward has committed to Buckland Athletic for the 2024/2025 season, following a departure from fellow Western League side, Ivybridge Town.
The 26-year-old wide player is welcomed to ‘The Bucks’ after departing Ivybridge Town following a very successful four-year spell. During this time, he was a key member of the Ivies’ South West Peninsula League West title-winning team, scoring 22 league goals and finishing runner-up in the golden boot for their 2023/2024 campaign.
The fleet-footed attacking player began his footballing journey in the South Devon League, steadily improving and impressing before being picked up by the Ivybridge manager, Darren Stewart. His time since has seen a continuation of his progress, developing into a young player with lots of experience.
Head Coach, Dan Hart said: “Luke is someone who really excelled in Ivybridge’s impressive league winning team last year with Wayne and Lance. I think their promotion and a change in on-pitch structure meant that Luke wasn’t able to pick up where he’d left off last year, and that had led to him leaving the club.”
“I was delighted to receive contact from him to say he’d be interested in coming to Homers Heath. It’s a big opportunity for a player who displays non-stop energy, and a willingness to learn and develop. We have a really strong culture building within our group, and I know Luke’s characteristics will be well responded to, within the dressing room environment, as well as his desire on the pitch.”
“Todd (Hanrahan) also played with him at Ivybridge and speaks very well about him, it’s been a bit of a no-brainer decision to bring him up and explore his potential with us.”
Everyone at the club is delighted to welcome Luke to Homers Heath, you can catch him in our next league game, tomorrow, versus Paulton Rovers with a 3pm kick off. Admission for this fixture is £7 for Adults, £5 for Concessions and £2 for Children under 16 years of age.
