Buckland Athletic FC announce long-term collaboration with Torquay United FC.

Buckland Athletic FC are delighted to announce a long-term ‘Partner Club’ agreement with Vanarama Conference South club, and locals, Torquay United FC.

After already enjoying a close working relationship with The Gulls, since the Bryn Consortium took control of the club last summer, recent discussions have seen the potential of this collaboration compliment both clubs’ growth ambitions and desire to develop promising young players, and so, it seemed natural to strengthen ties further to have an official agreement in place between the two clubs.

There are many ways in which United and ourselves will be able to support one another and benefit from the partnership. Including working together to provide an effective pathway for young players in South Devon to develop and transition from Youth to Senior football; ensuring talented players meet their full potential and are fully supported in doing so.

We are also pleased to announce that we will host United’s FA Youth Cup home fixtures and take part in an annual pre-season fixture with Torquay, at The VX3 Stadium – Homers Heath, to kick start 2025/26 preparations in July.

Torquay United Co-Chairman, Michael Westcott highlights that bridging the gap between youth team and senior football was one of the primary aims of the Bryn Consortium and added:

“This will be a mutually beneficial relationship, helping both clubs achieve their goals, and we’re (Torquay) already looking forward to our next visit to Homers Heath in the summer.”

Buckland Athletic Co-Chairman, John Piller added: “I am delighted that we have reached this agreement. Both clubs are hugely ambitious to progress through the football pyramid, so it makes total sense that we now continue to work together to reach our individual goals.”

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank CEO, Joe Lovell for sharing our vision, and also to Co-Chairmen, Michael Westcott and Mark Bowes-Cavanagh (pictured below) for their full support during the discussions to get the partnership in place.”
