CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT

Thursday 15th May 2025.

Buckland Athletic FC are thrilled to confirm that Manager, Matt Cusack’s first addition to the squad is his incoming Assistant, Dan Harrison.

Harrison joins alongside Cusack from Helston Athletic, but is no stranger to The VX3 Stadium – Homers Heath, having previously made 53 appearances for the club and wore the captains armband in 2017-18.

A nasty knee injury put a pause on Dan’s playing career and during this time, saw the former central-defender make the move to Kellaway Park. Arriving initially as a player, his knee injury woes sadly returned three years ago, forcing him to hang up the boots and instead, find a new home in the dugout, next to Matt. Winning three titles during their reign together; the Torquay-based assistant now makes a return to ‘The Bucks’ following seven years at the Cornish club.

When asked ‘why Buckland Athletic?’ Harrison had this to say:

I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing at Buckland and felt it was cut short through my injury. The facilities and infrastructure at the club are superb, if not the best in this division.”

“Matt and I have enjoyed success together over recent years at Helston and I’m looking forward to the new challenge ahead, where hopefully that success continues here.”

“There is also an element of sentiment to me coming back to The VX3 Stadium – Homers Heath this time as my eldest son, Reuben plays within the youth section of the club at Under 9’s level.”

The club welcomes Dan back as Assistant Manager and we look forward to him reuniting with many familiar faces.
